a bread collection
Croûte que Croûte, transforms bread into an artistic statement. This collection of chandeliers and vases elevates bread beyond its everyday role, turning it into a symbol of care, heritage, and connection. The objects bear intricate symbols reflecting themes of tradition, agriculture, and friendship—reminding us of bread’s place as a universal staple.
Historically, bread has been a centerpiece of communal gatherings. With Croûte que Croûte, Studio CoPain revives this idea, creating delicate, bread sculptures that honor its cultural significance. Crafted entirely from bread using traditional decorative bakery techniques, these pieces celebrate the legacy of breadmaking while challenging how we perceive this fundamental food.
Studio CoPain has developed a range of playful, collective tools. Inspired by traditional baking machines, they have redesigned them to be low-tech, allowing for collaborative use. Our dough ball machine, for instance, enables participants to work together to create perfectly divided dough portions, while our laminator invites teamwork in flattening dough.
Additionally, we have created custom marking tools, including stamps and cutters, that allow participants to leave their unique imprint on the bread. These tools not only enhance the visual identity of Studio Copain's creations but also encourage individual creativity within a collective framework.
